Authentic Social Work with Boys and Men: A Trauma Informed Approach
Event Actions
This workshop engages participants in understanding how masculinity is constructed and reinforced across systems and cultures.
Overview
Trauma-informed practice with boys and men requires exploring the relationship between harmful masculine norms and issues such as dating violence, sexual violence, school-based aggression, risky sexual behaviors, and mental health struggles. This workshop engages participants in understanding how masculinity is constructed and reinforced across systems and cultures. It highlights the influence of socialization on trauma, power, control, and privilege, and equips social workers with ethical, practical strategies to engage boys and men in healing-centered work.
